CLEA Outstanding Clinic Team: Jamaya Williams and Alex Votta
We are nominating the superstar Michigan Innocence Clinic team of Jamaya Williams and Alex Votta, for the CLEA Outstanding Student Team award. Jamaya and Alex have been exceptional at all aspects of MIC work, but they have especially shined in the toughest task we assigned them, which was to prepare for a huge upcoming evidentiary hearing in a complex case involving forensic science and social science regarding false confessions. They have done superbly well in splitting the two sides of the case between themselves and mastering each of the forensic angles. They have done an excellent job preparing for an upcoming oral argument, which will hopefully lead to a remand for an evidentiary hearing at which we hope they will get to participate in all the courtroom tasks.
